Provide legislative remedy to decision in Tracey v. Solesky re: Pit Bulls

Provide legislative remedy to decision in Tracey v. Solesky re: Pit Bulls
The Issue
There is no breed that is born inherently dangerous, it is how they are raised and treated that is going to determine their temperament. In fact, according to the A.T.T.S. (American Temperament Test Society) Pit Bulls scored 86 to 89% in positive temperament. That is above Labradors, Chihuahuas, and many other breeds. BSL is ineffective and expensive, and it is grossly unfair. Innocent dogs should not be punished when they have done nothing wrong, and millions of households include a pit bull and they never attack or harm anyone. The problem is a handful of very irresponsible dog owners, who either fail to effectively control their dog, mistreat their dog or deliberately train their dog to be viscous. Instead of applying a band-aid to this problem, we need tougher penalties and legislation targeted at those who abuse, train to fight or otherwise mistreat any breed of dog. One last item: Pit Bull is not even a breed, but rather a term to group three breeds, Staffordshire Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, and American Pit Bull Terrier. Gross misdentification is a leading cause in the mass hysteria regarding Pit Bulls, and often a dog is wrongly labeled as a Pit Bull Type and killed unjustly. Please do the right thing here, we are putting our faith in you. Thank you.
