Tattoo and piercings shops in the State of Maryland have been closed since the middle of March 2020. Many of these shops are as sterile or more sterile then a medical facility.
Most have autoclave’s, MadaCide, CavaCide, proper PPE, and no touch thermometers.

Tattoo artist have been out of work in Maryland since the middle of March and nearly all Tattoo Artist are independent contractors so they have not been able to even apply for unemployment, let alone receive it. Daily, these shops and artist are faced with turning their clients away while facing economic hardship. 

The State of Maryland was one of the first to close and is one of two states in the United States that has no reopen date. Maryland has allowed big box stores, car dealerships, construction services, restaurants for carry out, all fast food restaurants and most recently salons and barbers to open on a one client at a time basis. Many of these businesses have more employees working in the building then a tattoo shop could service in a month. 

This petition is asking for the State of Maryland Tattoo shops to be allowed to service their clients, on a one on one basis, until the Maryland stay at home order is lifted.
