I just saw Eraina Pretty on 20/20 & was touched by her story.

She was only 18 years old when she was convinced to take a plea deal of life in prison after she was involved in a robbery, in which her boyfriend shot & killed a store clerk.  

I saw true remorse & repentance in her tear filled eyes as she told of how guilty she felt when she told how the people asked to not kill them & she told them to just listen to what her boyfriend said & no one would get hurt.  I think she truly believed that.  I do not think she knew her boyfriend would kill anyone.   I understand that she made a mistake to even be there with her boyfriend, but I also believe that she should not pay for the crime of murder because she was not the one that killed the person...her boyfriend was.   

She has been in jail for 36 years now & I think she has done her time & really deserves a second chance at life.   At 18 years old, she was young & naïve & made the biggest mistake of her life, but after spending 36 years in jail, I think she has done her time.

Later this year, her fifth appeal comes & I am asking that you sign this petition & ask the Maryland Correctional Institution for Women to release her after 36 years.  At 55 years old, she has now been behind bars longer than any other woman in Maryland.

Please sign this petition to give Eraina Pretty another chance...show her forgiveness & mercy comes from true repentance, which I saw in her eyes as she told her story on 20/20.
