To Marvel:

Entertainment that educates, elevates, and improves the world of its viewers has the power to make real change. Marvel has, time and again, shown its belief in the power of entertainment to change lives.

Marvel’s Agent Carter is one such piece of entertainment which has reshaped the world of its audience. Through the story of Peggy Carter and her friends, allies, and adversaries, audiences have opened discussion about a wide variety of topics including feminism, veterans, and personal value. By following the example of Peggy, people of all ages, genders, and creeds have made changes for the better in the world around them. Arguably most importantly, there now exists a generation of young people that have excellent role models in the characters of Agent Carter that persevere through grief and loss, use their minds to solve problems, hold their heads up against adversity through the power of inner strength, and remain kind and loyal to one another while doing so.

Because of the impact the show has had on its fans, the cancellation of Marvel’s Agent Carter by ABC Network instigated a worldwide outcry. In under 24 hours, fans had trended “Agent Carter” on Twitter for over 8 hours and one of the many petitions created to protest the cancellation had generated over 15,000 signatures from all over the world. It then amassed 100,000 signatures in just 9 days. This petition, targeted directly at Netflix (https://www.change.org/p/netflix-save-agent-carter-bring-her-to-netflix), accumulated over 127,000 signatures before the streaming service announced it had no plans to pick up the show.

In the months following the cancellation, there has been a consistent torrent of supporters for the fan movement to bring back the show in some capacity on social media, in the press, and at events everywhere. These numbers will only grow as the show airs for the first time in new places around the globe including Brazil, Australia, and Asia. The fans believe in the value of Agent Carter.

We, the fans, are signing this petition to urge Marvel Entertainment to continue the story of Agent Carter. If not through its original format as a television show, then using film (feature or short), comics, animation, or any other avenue fitting for a Marvel franchise.

The story of these characters is important. Do not let one of the most valuable characters in recent Marvel history disappear.

We know her value. Do you, Marvel?

Sincerely,

The Fans of Marvel’s Agent Carter
