We would like to request Marvel Studios/Kevin Feige to cast an Asian or Asian American actor as Namor the Sub-Mariner in their movies. 

Hollywood has been lacking in positive non-stereotype Asian leads. Marvel Studio movies are indicative of that fact as they do not have any Asian leads. We appreciate Shang-Chi coming out but he is a stereotype character which we’ve seen before. Namor may be half-Atlantean but his other half is ambiguous enough to be casted as Asian. 

Mainstream media like film tends to be reflective of our society or what we strive for in our society. Asians in America have been faced with normalized blatant and subtle racism. It is even worse now with the rising hate against us due to COVID-19 and the political war with China. 

Casting Namor as Asian breaks not only the trend of disregarding Asian leads in Hollywood but also common stereotypes like the “nerd” or “kung fu fighter”. We’re tired of America and Hollywood putting us in a box. We’re all different and we want to see the mainstream represent that.

An Asian Namor is an opportunity for not only Asians in America to support this choice but Asians around the world to come together to support seeing themselves in such a deeply complex character. Thank you.
