Engrave Simon and Kirby's names on the Captain America Statue
In honor of Captain America's 75th Anniversary, Marvel is unveiling a 13-foot-tall bronze statue of the hero to be permanently placed in the movie character's hometown of Brooklyn, New York. We must ensure that this statue includes the names of Captain America's co-creators, Joe Simon and Jack Kirby.
As the grandchild of Joe Simon, I'm honored to see that my grandfather's most famed character will find a permanent place in the city he loved. Captain America was created to inspire people to live up to heroic values, to defend justice and what's right. Well before the United States entered WWII, Captain America could be seen on the cover of his first comic book punching Adolf Hitler. When people see this statue, they should not only be inspired by what the character fought for, but where Captain America came from. Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, two Jewish American artists, created Captain America to defend the values and justice they always held out hope for, despite the discrimination they encountered growing up during the Great Depression.
Please sign this petition to demand that Marvel include Joe Simon and Jack Kirby's names on Captain America's statue.
