The Issue

In 2008, Marvel Comics readers were introduced by writer Kevin Grevioux and artist Mat Broome to a new cosmic-powered superhero: The Blue Marvel! Scientist Adam Brashear was caught in the heart of an anti-matter accident and given energy powers the likes of which the world had never seen! There was only one problem: Adam Brashear was a black man in the early sixties, and the U.S. government didn't think America was ready for a cosmic-powered black superhero. When the Blue Marvel's greatest enemy returns to menace America, Marvel's Avengers must answer the question: Whatever happened to the Blue Marvel?

ADAM: LEGEND OF THE BLUE MARVEL was a five-issue miniseries published by Marvel Comics that was soon afterward collected in a trade paperback. However, since its original printing Marvel has produced no physical reprints of the full volume.

In 2015 Marvel Comics brought the Blue Marvel to the forefront of reader consciousness by making him a core player in their new super-team title  THE ULTIMATES! Consequently, readers went on a mad scramble for copies of the Blue Marvel's first appearance, and copies of the ADAM: LEGEND OF THE BLUE MARVEL now routinely sell for $500 to $1000 on auction sites!

Alas, Marvel readers on a budget must settle for [shudder] digital copies. I myself was forced to go the digital route after making the tremendous mistake of passing up a discounted copy of the trade paperback at a comic book shop probably two decades ago. I can still see that yellow-green sticker "Only $10" floating before my eyes! How many other comic book readers young and old alike are suffering like I do from having this gaping hole in their physical comic book collection?

This Juneteenth, let's bring ADAM: LEGEND OF THE BLUE MARVEL back to the bookshelves! This Juneteenth, let's "lift every voice" and petition Marvel Comics to bring solid copies of ADAM: LEGEND OF THE BLUE MARVEL back into readers' hands! Please sign the petition to convince Marvel to finally reprint this significant volume of comic book history!
