Stop JCPS & Staff From Pushing Personal Political Ideologies
The Issue
Recently some Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) staff members and JCPS itself have pushed radical narratives and personal political views upon our youth. More specifically they have advocated for BLM organizations as well as pushed a video/book resource to push anti-police rhetoric, blatantly painting police officers and law enforcement agencies as black persons hating, white persons loving, terrorists, who make it their agenda to target and kill black Americans, while allowing white Americans to go free. The video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJ-NkHGjg_0
Make no mistake, the purpose of this narrative is not to tell adults what ideologies they should adopt and express under their 1st amendment right. Instead this is a narrative attempting to let this school system know they are not going to be allowed to persuade our youth in any political direction. Children's ideologies should come from their faith, family, friends, and their own intellect. Please keep in mind, this concerns conservatives, liberals, and independents alike. This policy adopted allows for any ideology to be perpetuated no matter how much you might disagree. Whether it be Pro-Trump, Pro-Biden, Pro LGBTQ, Anti-LGBTQ, etc. The propaganda will grow and effect multiple people.
At these times in our country, where individuals are dealing with divisiveness, oppression, brutality and violence in all forms and fashions, one would think our school system would do it's best to remain neutral and inspire unity. Our focus should not be on sowing bitter ideas of white guilt, black oppression, and distrust of our most trusted civil servants.
JCPS needs to stay neutral. Not choose to feed bitter, poisonous narratives. They are attempting to make young black children bitter towards their white friends by insinuating that all of their white classmates will have every advantage in life, while themselves and all their black friends and classmates will not have any. They prevent our young black youth from dreaming of wonderful and fulfilling lives with success and achievement. They do this by telling them the "white racist system hates them". They push white guilt on our youth and attempt to force negative emotions upon them by telling and suggesting they are somehow responsible for racial inequity. They push narratives that the actions of their white forbearers (which may or may not have taken part in the racial injustices that did occur in this countries history) are somehow the child's own fault and so they should feel negatively about their culture.
The continued radical idea that all black Americans should distrust police, will only increase criminal activity. If communities don't trust police, then they will not call police or reveal important information to them so that criminals can be brought to justice. The anti-police rhetoric has correlated with the recent multiple assassination attempts on police officers of all different genders, colors, and cultures.
This is a plea to people in this community to look into your hearts and realize schools should not take political sides. People should influence our youth to feel that every single human life matters. That violence and radical ideologies whether it be left or right leaning should not be forcibly fed to our children. This needs to stop! Please continue to share this link and this petition with any person you know that might share the same idea.
I finish by stating this fact. Not all staff members of JCPS have taken part in this. Many have secretly expressed their concern for this propaganda as well. Please do not gain distrust as a whole in our school system. There are many great teachers that educate and encourage our youth to be wonderful and intelligent, as well as caring and compassionate. Our world would be lost without our teachers, counselors, principals and assistant principles as well as other educational staff. This is in no way a condemnation of educators. They should be idolized and looked up to by our youth and our community. This is also in no way stating that there are not injustices and inequalities in today's society that need to be addressed. This is merely stating the ideologies need to be spread to children by their family and loved ones, not school which is a social construct.
