We crashed Martha Stewart’s dinner party last night by urging her to drop True North and try vegan seafood instead. Join us in driving the message home with a quick comment on her Instagram.
Martha Stewart hosted a dinner party for the South Beach Wine and Food Festival in Florida last night--and Animal Outlook protesters met her there with posters and leaflets exposing the cruelty she supports with her seafood line. We urged her to cut ties with the cruel seafood company True North and give vegan seafood a try instead.
Martha clearly felt the heat, as she attempted to sneak by with her head down and quickly entered through the back door of the restaurant--while her entourage desperately tried to make protesters feel unwelcome.
But Animal Outlook stood its ground, revealing to event guests the horrific conditions and abuse Animal Outlook discovered during its undercover investigation at one of Cooke Aquaculture’s hatcheries--which markets through True North, Martha Stewart’s seafood partner. And demonstrators kept the pressure on right outside her window throughout the event.
Not only are the appalling conditions and treatment Animal Outlook uncovered in this footage standard practice--they are also unsustainable, unnecessary, and (with your help), soon to be a relic of the past. Food Business News notes a prediction that after 2019’s surge in vegan burger availability and popularity, plant-based seafood will take center stage in 2020. Industry giants are even taking notice, as Nestlé just announced it will be releasing a vegan tuna later this year and vegan seafood company Good Catch continues to gain financial backing.
