Martha Stewart is holding a cooking demo and book signing today at MetroCooking DC. So COK stopped by to confront her again on the cruelty we discovered in our most recent investigation--yet this time she tried to claim it was a set-up! Join us in sending Martha Stewart a quick email saying that we’re not falling for it!
After COK’s ground-breaking undercover investigation at a hatchery which supplies salmon to True North dropped last month, COK attended a meet-and-greet to ask Martha Stewart to comment on her new partnership with the seafood company. She refused to discuss the matter even though Cooke, True North’s parent company released a statement and Marquee Brands, owner of Martha Stewart Living contacted COK deeply concerned. However, no meaningful actions have been taken yet.
Today, COK’s Laura Cascada attended Martha Stewart’s event in DC and asked her about the footage again. Stewart tried to claim that it was a set-up, suggesting that we visit the facility ourselves--well we HAVE and we were disgusted and heartbroken by what we saw!
Our footage from the facility uncovered footage of senseless violence against fish on a daily basis and horrendous living conditions. Fish there were being raised for human consumption in filthy tanks, covered in fungus and suffering immensely. We even saw workers throwing improperly anesthetized fish across great distances. Sometimes they were thrown into another tank; other times, into waterless buckets, where they were left to either be crushed by others or suffocate to death.
Martha Stewart, a self-proclaimed animal lover, has the power and responsibility to make waves for sea animals and we won’t give up until she takes action! Take a stand with us today by sending her a quick (and polite) email saying that we know the truth and urging her to drop her True North line and switch to plant-based seafood instead.
