This petition goes towards taking out uniforms and the uniform policy in the Mobile County Public School System. The uniform policy does not Allow free Self expression for students in many schools, uniforms do not help with bullying and can even lead to an increase of violent attacks. "There is no evidence in bullying literature that supports a reduction in violence due to school uniforms." Tony Volk, PhD, Associate Professor at Brock University, stated; addressing to the con of uniforms in schools nationwide. School uniforms also have not been shown to improve student grades, attendance or county wide test results. Students especially oppose school uniforms, due to being out of uniform can result in more trouble than there would be in the beginning if students did not have uniforms and only went by a formal dress code. Overall, It is questionable if you can find several key benefits to uniforms. Therefore, shows key reasons to why this petition is being advocated to have uniforms removed from the Mobile County Public School System. This change to take out uniforms would make it more beneficial to students, teachers, and administrators county wide.
