Winter's in Australia hit a wide range of peaks, sometimes dropping under 8°C
(Weather in Brisbane, 2017). Many Australians would grab a warm set of clothes and enjoy the frosty day ahead of them. Marsden High students however, do not have this privilege. In the peak of the Winter's breeze students at Marsden are subjected to wearing thin materials covering only their upper thigh (Girls) and knee (boys). The cold has come and the students have spoken, we want sweatpants. Personal evaluation and communication with fellow students has concluded in action.

Not only does incorporating sweatpants at Marsden High allow students with basic human rights but it will improve attendance among grade levels. Due to various student complaints a conclusion can be made that attending school becomes hard in Winter due to there not being a uniform to fit the circumstances. Year 11 Marsden High student, Erica Ouch states: I don't want to attend Marsden SHS during the winter because we are forced to wear the clothes that are not warm enough. We are told if we're cold, wear stockings however stockings do not keep us warm.

Marsden SHS does however provide students with formal slacks, like stockings we are told to wear them if we are cold. Although, yes the pants are of better coverage than the skirt and shorts, they are still made from the same thin material leaving Marsden SHS students cold in the Winter's breeze. Fellow year 11 MSHS student who wishes to remain anonymous states: I'd much rather have the option to wear track pants than the formal slacks, the trackies would actually provide warmth. Year 11 student Erica Ouch also states: Formal pants aren't warm I wear them very often and they do not keep me warm.

Please work together to help me and my fellow students obtain warmth in Winter. One voice may be small but with the help of you, we can create an army of voices to help the students at Marsden State High School.
