What's next?

We are currently organizing a virtual forum for October and will let you know (via social media) when we have more details. The theme is White Saviorism in Education: A discussion about how the “white savior complex” creates an oppressive environment for Black and brown students in “no-excuse” charter schools. 

And we are working to educate our Vermont legislators about the charter school movement so that we can get laws on the books to keep them out of Vermont. Vermont currently has zero charter schools but also zero laws explicitly preventing them. 

Accountability

We are still waiting to hear from Democracy Builders about how they plan to repair past harms and be held accountable moving forward. But Natasha Trivers, the current CEO of Democracy Prep, has started moving in the right direction. She wrote "Accountability & Reflection" and Black N Brown at DP wrote this response to her. Both worth a read!
