Stop Facebook Freebooting by Demanding Facebook Implement Content ID To Protect Independent Creators
The Issue
Facebook, Inc. hosts an enormous amount of freebooted* content because they have no content ID system nor protection for independent creators. Seeing as Facebook, Inc. is a multi-billion dollar company they shouldn't be able to ignore the rampant copyright violation and exploitation of honest creators on their site.
We are calling on Facebook to implement a Content ID System like YouTube in order to protect independent creators from copyright infringement.
*Freebooting is the practice of downloading copyrighted content from a media-hosting website and re-uploading it without the creator’s permission, typically in order to accumulate a large following or for commercial profit through advertising revenue.
