The Issue

Sylvester the Tuxedo Cat has been on Facebook since 2010 striving to, "Make this a better world, one purr at a time". He has over 50,000 followers and is known and well-loved. We lost Sylvester in September of 2013 to kidney failure and in 2013 we rescued Kori, another tuxedo cat, who continued his work.

Two days ago, on February 15th, I received an official-looking Facebook message with the Facebook logo that threatened to shut the page down for copyright infringement if not verified. I know about scams and have been vigilant in other areas, Yahoo, Ebay, Etsy to name a few. But, receiving it on Facebook was different and unexpected, I was tired and I gave my password. The concern is there, what if it was from Facebook? I know better now and this is a lesson learned and a word of serious warning to others on Facebook.

Within less than a minute, the page was taken away and the hacker set himself/herself up as administrator with another email address and I was kicked out as administrator. I no longer have access to my own page.

For two days now we have been sending reports to Facebook and so many have reported the page. But, despite all our efforts nothing helpful has been done.

There are many crimes going on here. From copyright infringement for taking all of our photos and stories, scamming and falsifying a Facebook document, stealing my persona on this page, my identity. That Facebook is doing nothing and letting this hacker run down my page, my cats and my memories is not OK. Why should this hacker get away with this when Facebook can do something?

There has been 5 years, since January 1, 2010 of Facebook history on my profile. I began Sylvester the Tuxedo Cat in 2010, as I said. He was not just a cat, but one that had adventures, told stories, was a positive force in this world believing in kindness, love and bringing joy to others. There was heart and soul on this page, cherished memories. He also raised awareness of cat rescue and was the first to ask for thoughts and prayers for those in need or harm's way.

I am a writer, artist and creative person and I put those talents to use on his page. My photographs, my daughter's signed photos, stories, cat lols, artwork etc. have also been stolen.

His welcome to the page says this: "Welcome to Sylvester the Tuxedo Cat's page. His work was and is now to make this a better world, one purr at a time. With so many fans in over 54 countries around the world, Sylvester stole hearts, as only a feline can, with his humor, stories, quotes, escapades, LOLs and photos. While Sylvester is no longer with us, he left instructions to continue his page, to bring smiles and joy, finish his book and be open to the new rescue kitteh he will send, when the time is right, to continue his work. November 3, 2013, our new rescue Prince Kori, or Kori for short, (Cuoricino - meaning little heart or dear heart in Italian, as he was named by Siglinda Scarpa, the founder of The Goathouse Refuge) has taken his throne in our hearts and home. So please, settle back, enjoy and share Sylvester and Kori's page and posts to keep his memory and work alive. The journey continues - be a part of the purrs to make this a better world... Thank you. >^♡^<"

This is a case of a little tuxedo feline up against the giant Facebook. Someone recently told me that what I had created was so wonderful that someone wanted to steal it.

I have set up another page in the same name and we are trying to direct others to the new page. This is the link https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sylvester-the-Tuxedo-Cat/905278442850284 and they must unlike the hacked page and this is the link of the one that was hacked that I am trying to get back. They are running it into the ground. https://www.facebook.com/beatifulvinescat

Facebook must restore this page to its rightful owner, me. They can never restore the damage to the page, the hurt and the pain this has caused, but others are in danger and Facebook must protect its users and not allow hackers to commit numerous crimes and go freely about their way.

I ask for your help in this and thank you.
