Reinstatement of La Raza Unida's Facebook Page

The Issue

For 10 years Ernesto Ayala has carefully cultivated the Facebook page promoting the La Raza Unida political party. This page had over 140k likes and 100k followers. It was an important site in the dissemination of Xicano thought, culture and politics in the digital world.

On May 4, 2020, Facebook deactivated the La Raza Unida page. In their brief explanation they charged the site was being run by fake profiles, despite the fact Ayala had undergone the Facebook verification process several years before. The deactivation of the La Raza Unida page is a warning shot across the bow of every organization that supports a decolonial position.  Is it Facebook's contention that anti-colonial sentiment is fake news run by fake profiles?

We are asking all supporters of the Raza Unida Party, fighters for decolonization and free speech advocates to sign this petition and let Facebook know decolonization is not fake news.

Your La Raza Unida Page has been unpublished: Is it 1970 or 2020?
