For many, our cats and dogs are family. Our love for them is boundless, and if the unthinkable happens and they go missing -- the pain and desperation is equally boundless.

WITH ONE VERY SIMPLE ACTION, FACEBOOK AND MARK ZUCKERBERG CAN MAKE THAT HEART-WRENCHING DESPAIR GO AWAY FOR MILLIONS.

There are dozens of pages in every city for posting photos and information about missing or found dogs and cats. These pages lead to countless heart warming reunions, showing the true power & purpose of social media; strangers & neighbors coming together to enrich each other's lives simply because it's the right thing to do and we're all in this together.

However, in any given city there may be 20 or more pages dedicated to this cause. A pet owner or rescuer has to be aware of each of the dozens of pages so that they can check and post in them all. If they miss a single page, they may lose their only chance to be reunited with their loved one forever. The reality is, there's no way anyone can be aware of every single such page. It's simply not feasible.

But if every city had one central page then WHAT WAS AN IMPOSSIBLE SEARCH BECOMES A SIMPLE FIVE MINUTE PROCESS.

How it would work:

The process would be similar to the Facebook's Marketplace.

- When a pet photo is uploaded and certain keywords are used (lost, found, stolen, missing, etc) a Facebook prompt can ask the user if their pet is lost or if the photo is of a found pet. If the answer is 'yes', users would then be prompted to tag characteristics like breed, color, location. Facebook would then share that photo to the city's lost/found pet page. It's that easy.

This is an opportunity for Facebook to use their place in society to help people when they need that help most. By harnessing the collective power and good-will of strangers, Facebook can eliminate the heart-wrenching despair that tens of millions go through every year and live up to the promise of Facebook's original founding principals; to connect the world, thus empowering and improving it.

PLEASE - SIGN THIS PETITION AND JOIN US - Hopefully Mark Zuckerberg will hear our collective voices.

Mr. Zuckerberg, here's your chance to help all pet owners around the world and save the lives of millions of beloved, helpless animals in the process.
