For many, Facebook has become their main avenue to keep in touch with their family and friends, share their favorite photos and videos, and engage in conversation. So many applications, games, and websites are linked to Facebook, prompting you to use Your Facebook account as your login. All of this is GREAT, until all of the sudden, without warning, your Facebook page is disabled, with no explanation. 

I, as well as many others, have had our Facebook profiles disabled without warning.  We have lost Business, photos, videos, messages, memories and more. I no longer have access to the profiles of my friends and family members who have passed away.  I was never put into “Facebook jail” like others for posting stuff that violated Facebooks policies. Some people are constantly posting racist, sexist, terroristic,  pornographic, disrespectful stuff, and nothing ever happens to them. The only things that I post about are my husband, family, sports, nature, inspirational stuff, and my cancer journey. Nothing that I post violates any of facebooks policies. 

On 11/27/2019 my Facebook profile was  locked for “suspicious activity” though I did nothing wrong.  I was instructed to verify my identity in order to have my account reinstated. I uploaded my drivers license, as well as a selfie holding my license, a notarized letter from my bank, and a notarized marriage license application. I uploaded these via email to Facebook security, uploaded via the Facebook help page, DM on Instagram and Twitter, And also mailed them via priority mail to Facebook, which tracking confirms were delivered. All with no response.

Upon searching in social media, I discovered many others were experiencing the exact same with situation. A few suggested contacting the better business bureau to file a complaint, which I did. I received multiple generic replies from Facebook via the better business bureau, all referring me to the Facebook help page or advising me they couldn’t help me via that platform. 

I’ve had my profile for 10+ years and haven’t violated any of facebooks polices during that time. I’ve been banned from Facebook and so have many others. When I try to create a new profile, it automatically disables it. 

I’ve tried contacting people directly at facebook with no response. I’ve also reached out to all of my local news channels, but there was no reply. The point of this petition is to get my profile reinstated and to bring as much attention and pressure to this situation as possible so that others in the same situation can also get help reinstating their profiles.  Facebook encourages people to promote their products and businesses, to build groups and pages, and to network with like minded people. Millions of people use Facebook as the primary platform for their business, their groups, and their main point of contact with their family and friends... but Facebook will also erase your entire social media existence in the blink of an eye with absolutely no cares in the world. Facebook needs to be held accountable!
