Facebook is allowing videos & pictures of illegal dogfighting. Why? Dogfighting is an inhumane bloodsport where dogs who have been bred, conditioned & trained to fight are placed in a pit to fight each other for spectator entertainment & profit. Fights average one to two hours, ending when one of the dogs cannot continue anymore & dies a horrible & painful horrific death. The injuries inflicted & sustained by dogs participating in dogfights are severe & almost always fatal. The dogs used in the majority of these fights have been specifically bred & trained for fighting — an upbringing that relies on abuse & mistreatment from puppyhood, a life of constant pain. Some dogfighters train dogs by forcing them to tread water in pools; run on a treadmill while a caged rabbit, cat, chicken, or other terrified animal is dangled in front of them; or hang on with their jaws while dangling from a chain baited with meat. Many dogs are injected with steroids. Some dogfighters even sharpen their dogs’ teeth, cut off their ears (sometimes with just scissors or any other cruel shap object available) to prevent another dog from latching on. In some cases, roach poison is added to their food so that their fur might taste bad to other dogs. Typical injuries include severe bruising, deep puncture wounds & broken bones. Dogs used in these events often die of blood loss, shock, dehydration, exhaustion or infection hours or even days after the fight, just left alone, tossed to the side like trash. When they were no longer useful to fight organizers, they were wet down & electrocuted, hanged, beaten, drowned, shot, slammed against the ground, or killed in some other diagusting manner. They're scared, traumatized, close to death as well as suffering. Dogs who “win” fights are forced to fight again & again. Prized fighters are used to breed puppies for profit.  Female dogs are strapped down on “rape stands” to prevent fighting while males impregnate them. Many of the dogs who do not fight or who lose fights are used as what's know as “bait dogs" which are used to "train" other dogs. Many are taunted & starved in order to trigger survival instincts & encourage aggression. This kind of activity is a felony in ALL 50 states in the United States. Many children wittness such cruelty to animals when they are allowed to attend fights by their guardians. Knowingly bringing a child to a dog fight is a felony as well. It is estimated by some government sources that there are on average about 16,000 dogs killed each year in organized dogfights & that number continues to grow. With all of this being said, I am asking Facebook, Inc. along with the founder Mark Zuckerberg & other decision making personnel to stop allowing Facebook members to post the videos of illegal dogfighting. It's immoral & very disturbing as well as upsetting to those of us who do not want animals harmed.
