Destroy the New York Times printing press.

Following the example of our first prophet, Joseph Smith Jr., we call upon Mark Thompson the President of the New York Times to destroy the literal printing press the New York Times uses, along with the figurative printing press

June 7, 1844 a newly formed newspaper published reports that Joseph Smith Jr. was engaging in polygamy.  Even though he had told confidants in the church that he did in fact have numerous wives, it was not public knowledge and he denied it.  Joseph Smith called a city council meeting where he put the editors of the newspaper, the Nauvoo Expositor, on trial.  Smith then ordered the destruction of the Expositor, and a mob of several hundred people took care of it.

Now in present time the New York Times has published an obituary of our beloved former prophet, even Thomas S. Monson, which while speaking the truth, does not focus on the positive as it should have.  Instead of headlines about the 85 widows he assisted over forty years ago, it chose to concentrate on more recent choices he made that hurt women and the LGBT community.

As former apostle Boyd K. Packer wrote, "The truth is not uplifting; it destroys.".  And now we call on the source of truth, the New York Times, to destroy itself.
