Here are some of the results from the recent two week traffic monitoring at 7 locations Arcadia Drive. The following information was provided by City of Rockingham:
"As you can notice, there is a significant number of vehicles that are exceeding posted speed limit.
Please note that traffic data are already passed to the State Police for monitoring and enforcement. Additionally, traffic investigation showed need for traffic calming measures along Arcadia Drive that will be included in our Business Plan.
Note that the construction of six pedestrian crossings at the section of Safety Bay Road just south from Arcadia Drive is already scheduled for 2018/19 Financial Year.
Data Results:
Arcadia Drive South of Penguin Road recorded the highest speed with 28.07% of vehicles exceeded the posted speed limit. The highest (95th percentile speed) recorded was 81.00 Km/h.
Considering all the locations it can be concluded that 58.9% of vehicles were recorded travelling faster than the speed limit.
The highest total number of vehicles recorded by one counter during the 2 weeks was 42614.
The data analysis programme provides data in 10km/h intervals (eg 50-60, 60-70) and the percentage of traffic travelling over 70Km/h is less than 2.5% (2.5% could be around 1065 vehicles over the 2 weeks)"
For now we will have to wait and see, they said a team will need to come and evaluate where the traffic calming measures would be most effective. I will contact them to check for updates and keep you all posted.
For now stay safe and enjoy our beautiful area,
Katie
