Make Arcadia Drive safer for pedestrians

Arcadia Drive is a popular walking area for families, couples and elderly residents in Shoalwater, Western Australia.

Sadly on the evening of 24th March 2018 yet another life was lost on Arcadia Drive due to dangerous hooning behaviour. The two long straights on Arcadia Drive are prone to attract hoons who are seen to reach speeds in excess of 100km/h (in a 50km/h zone). With the high number of pedestrian users on this road we need to take action now before more lives are lost.

We need the State Government to assess the safety of this road and implement measures to stop vehicles from reaching such dangerous speeds. We suggest installing speed bumps or chicanes.

We as locals all use the footpaths on Arcadia Drive; whether we are walking the dog, socialising, exercising, accessing the beach or strolling with prams. We are a quiet community with a high number of retired residents and young families, meaning the pedestrian flow is constantly high throughout the day.

We need to protect our community and visitors to the area. Please join us in this petition as we call for immediate action from our local representative and State Premier Mark McGowan MLA.
