Abolishing Livestock Export/Import

Abolishing Livestock Export/Import
The issue
Live exporting/importing of WA Cattle has been going on for years, and has remained as horrible and inhumane as ever. Live exportation/importation of animals puts them through the harshes conditions. Sheep are forced to go up too four weeks at sea, living in overpopulated rooms filled with there own feces, struggling against each other to reach the feeder, sweating from the radiant heat of the engine. Annually, 2% of the sheep entering the boats won’t come off alive due too these harsh conditions. That may not sound like a lot, but considering that, in 2019, 1,118,499 sheep were exported/imported, meaning around 22,370 sheep didn’t leave those ships.
But the struggle doesn’t end there. A lot of the 169 520 cattle who got shipped off to Indonesia in 2019 have to endure hours of torture with people gouging there eyes, whipping and slashing their ankles repeatedly, tail bending, rope casting, which is when they tie the legs too a rope and pull them together, and finally, throat cutting. Throat cutting is exactly what it sounds like. They get a big, chipped, rusty machete and slice the throat, and it takes a few cuts. Video shows a steer being sliced 18 times before becoming unconscious. Evidence also shows animals being conscious for up to two minutes after throat cutting.
So please, help us help the animals by signing this petition. Together we can stop the mistreatment of livestock.
