Querido Mark (y miembros del Unicode Consortium),

En Barkibu, la plataforma de consejo veterinario online, creemos que ya va siendo hora de que los PetLovers tengamos un emoji que nos represente. Y qué mejor que pedirlo hoy, 4 de octubre, cuando celebramos el Día Mundial de los Animales. 

Dicen que una imagen vale más que mil palabras. ¿Cómo queréis que ilustremos entonces nuestro plan de viernes por la noche en casa con nuestro can? ¿O los viajes a sitios increíbles en la mejor compañía? ¿Y los padres y madres perrunos? Si hay un emoji de una familia con uno y hasta dos niños, creemos que deberíamos poder incluir también a nuestro perro o gato. Porque para los PetLovers, nuestra mascota es parte de nuestra familia. 

Y como seguro sabrás, los PetLovers somos una especie esparcida por todo el mundo ;) Sólo en Estados Unidos, según la Humane Society, se estima que hay 79.7 millones de hogares con al menos una mascota, y el total de perros y gatos como mascota supera los 163 millones.

Por eso hemos decidido unirnos para conseguir el mayor número de firmas posibles y demostrar a Unicode Consortium que ya va siendo hora de tener en cuenta a los PetLovers. Lo cierto es que no entendemos cómo se os ha podido pasar por alto...

Para complementar nuestra propuesta, que os haremos llegar también de manera formal, hemos iniciado una campaña en las redes sociales con el hashtag #PetLoverEmoji. Seguro que así os convencemos ;)

Dear Mark (and members of the Unicode Consortium),

At Barkibu, the app that connects pet owners with licensed veterinarians, we believe it is time for PetLovers to have an emoji that represent us. And what better day to ask this than today, October 4, World Animal Day. 

They say an image is worth a thousand words. How are we supposed to illustrate then our Friday-night plans at home with our pup? Or the amazing trips with our furry friends? And what about pet parents? If there is a family emoji with one and even two kids, we believe we should be able to include also our dog or cat. Because for PetLovers, they are family. 

As you may know, PetLovers are spread all over the world ;) Just in the US, according to Humane Society, it is estimated that there are 79.7 millions of households with at least one pet in it. This translates in over 163 millions of pet dogs and cats (again, just in the States).

For those reasons, we have joined to get as many signatures as possible to prove Unicode Consortium that is time to take PetLovers into account. Actually, we don't understand how could you miss this... 

Together with our proposal, which we will also submit according to the guidelines, we have started a social media campaign with the hashtag #PetLoverEmoji. We are sure we will convince you ;)
