We have very few good eating places on Garland Road. Panera Restaurant has a location on Garland Road and Buckner, and was ready to begin construction, but city councilman Mark Clayton derailed the project, even though Garland Road Vision endorsed it. We have one last chance. If we can garner enough support perhaps we can get a Panera in our neighborhood. Just FYI...The sticking point has been the drive-thru aspect, but the developers agreed to put language in the Special Use Permit that would have restricted the drive-thru ONLY to Panera, and not any potential future restaurants on that particular site.

Most people don't really care that this restaurant would have a drive-thru.  However, the developers have agreed to screen it with vegetation to appease those that do.  In addition, the restaurant will be all masonry construction, have ample outdoor seating with an arbor, and bike racks for those that ride up from White Rock Lake.
