Establish a Title IX Student Advisory Board at Marist College

Establish a Title IX Student Advisory Board at Marist College
The Issue
In light of recent instances of relationship abuse and domestic violence occurring not only in our society today, but recently, on our very own college campus, it could not be more evident we need student representation in the Title IX reporting and case revision process.
According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, college-aged women (between the ages of 16-24) have the highest per capita rate of intimate partner violence. 21% of college students report having experienced dating violence by a current partner, and 32% of college students report experiencing dating violence by a previous partner.
Victims of relationship abuse are often young, college-aged women. We must have student representation in the Marist College Title IX reporting process. We advocate for a Title IX Student Advisory Board, comprised of women, survivors, and allies to ensure no victim of domestic abuse is left behind by Marist College.
