FIRE MATTHEW ANDREWS

FIRE MATTHEW ANDREWS
The Issue
Matthew Andrews is described as "the most racist, intolerant, and inappropriate educators I've ever met" by a class of 2020 alumni. When a black student was sitting in the front of his classroom, Matt Andrews had the audacity to say in front of the ENTIRE class "don't pull a Rosa Parks on me!". Additionally, Matt Andrews asked a student where she was from, when the student stated Mexico he said without any hesitation "build the wall". Through the years he continuously pointed out her accent which made her extremely self conscious. Openly racist and discriminatory actions has no place in the classroom, yet alone being said by the PROFESSOR. Matthew Andrews also has a trend of casting roles to white people, when the original role is actually a person of color. Additionally, Matthew introduces pretty controversial musicals- such as "The King and I", but instead he allowed his students to adapt a reinterpretation of it... they were going to have a white woman go to a PLANTATION in the south, teach slaves how to read and fall in love with the slave owner. Does this sound like he follows Marists promises of "diversity and inclusion"? Sign the petition to get him fired.
