Marist Leadership,

Last night the Marist Football team was informed that our spring season has been cancelled. The explanation for this decision was limited in scope and failed to provide specific answers to countless athletes and coaches who have been preparing to play this year since it was announced several weeks ago that we would have a season. Additionally, the people or person who made this decision were not present on the zoom call, instead passing the responsibility to Head Coach Parady versus facing us to explain their decision. As current Marist student-athletes, we are beyond frustrated with the leadership of the college.For many of us, football is an escape and a place where we find direction and purpose. To have that torn away is nothing short of excruciating, especially considering the many upperclassmen who have been playing the sport their entire lives, sacrificing to get to this point in their college careers and only to see it be taken away. We feel the only concern of Marist leadership as of now is keeping COVID off campus versus worrying about what may be going on within the psyches of many of their students and student-athletes. To not attempt to exhaust all options, or explore alternative ones is a inconsiderate to everyone that is apart of this team. 

Considering all this, we would like to ask that the season would be reinstated. We all have worked hard for our opportunity to play and deserve better than the way things have been handled so far. So please consider reversing your decision and allowing us to play.
