Australian aircraft were recently involved in a US-led coalition operation which "accidently" killed dozens of Syrian soldiers who were apparently mistaken for Islamic State fighters, according to our own Defence Department. As a result between 62 and 83 Syrian soldiers who had been fighting IS militants were reportedly killed in the air strikes around the Deir al-Zor military airport in Syria's east.

We in the Australian community are outraged at the blatant and illegal attack on a sovereign nation and the killing of Syrian soldiers defending their homeland from our common enemy.

This US-led action fits a clear pattern that has been emerging during the course of the Syrian war.

A US Pentagon, DIA report, formerly classified “SECRET//NOFORN” and dated August 12, 2012, was circulated widely among various government agencies, including CENTCOM, the CIA, FBI, DHS, NGA, State Dept., and many others.

Astoundingly, the declassified report states that for “THE WEST, GULF COUNTRIES, AND TURKEY [WHO] SUPPORT THE [SYRIAN] OPPOSITION… THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF ESTABLISHING A DECLARED OR UNDECLARED SALAFIST PRINCIPALITY IN EASTERN SYRIA (HASAKA AND DER ZOR), AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE SUPPORTING POWERS TO THE OPPOSITION WANT, IN ORDER TO ISOLATE THE SYRIAN REGIME…”.
The document shows that as early as 2012, US intelligence predicted the rise of the Salafist Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS), but instead of clearly delineating the group as an enemy, the report envisions the terror group as a US strategic asset.
The world is now waking up to the fact that the US corporatocracy that runs America is intent on covertly overthrowing the legitimate Syrian Government and installing a puppet regime that will allow the oil pipeline from Qatar to Europe and help maintain the US petrodollar backing.

While a number of analysts and journalists have documented long ago the role of western intelligence agencies in the formation and training of the armed opposition in Syria, this is the highest level internal US intelligence confirmation of the theory that western governments fundamentally see ISIS as their own tool for regime change in Syria.

This has led to 5 years of the US security state funding jihadists who have plagued Syria and created the waves of refugees "washing up" on Europe's shores. These so-called Salafists after 5 bitter years of war have morphed into the compliant Free Syrian Army, led by Al Nusra/Al Qaeda - which the Western media have labelled "moderates" - and the non-compliant Islamic State - that are labelled "terrorists."

These groups are now indistinguishable as they both have porous members who interact together and hence Western funding of one will inadvertently, or some say deliberately, fund the other no matter how much the CIA implausibly denies it.

We realise that the corporate media and your corporate donors will make this request politically impossible but nevertheless we call on you now to publicly apologise and withdraw all Australian armed forces that are illegally involved in Syria and pay compensation to the families of the Syrian soldiers Australia has helped kill defending their homeland against the Western funded Islamic State.
