On the morning of March 17th 2020 around 9 am, there was a fatal crash that involved a member of our community at the railroad track on Red Hill Rd in New Oxford. There currently are no lights or bars, to warn drivers that there is an oncoming train approaching. One side of the track is used for farming and the other side is obstructed by trees making it difficult to see an approaching train coming from that direction. If a deaf family member was trying to cross that track, there is no way for them to know a train is approaching. In the 16 years living on Red Hill Rd, I have seen several accidents on, or around, that train track. Yet nothing has been changed to make it safer.

I am starting this petition to make change to the train track on Red Hill Rd ...Bars and lights would make it a lot safer for the residents that live on that road and are forced to travel it daily...At the very least it needs lights or bars ideally both to help prevent another senseless tragedy. With the support of the community, we can make the changes that must be made to make the community safer for all of its residents!
