The bears in Marineland are being abused, almost never getting proper food.  They are routinely fed "corn pops" - a Kellogs cereal brand that is extremely unhealthy and unsafe for bears - inside ice cream cones, which are all carbohydrates.  These foods are not an important source of nutrients for a bear, and when they do get food, it is a bin of vegetables that are often unwashed and still have stickers on them.  They almost never get fed meat, and when they do, it is certainly not enough for the fully-grown American black bears to split.  When they don't get much food for any reason (not many visitors, pandemic) they will resort to attacking each other in the hopes of cannibalism.  The bears being attacked have no place to run as they are kept in a small concrete pit.

Last year, a female black bear had cubs.  What guests heard when visiting the bear pit, sounded as if a puppy was screaming.  Only seconds later, they saw the concrete was covered in blood because the father bear had nothing to eat, he had to resort to killing one of his own cubs and eating them. The other three cubs who survived, were taken out of the den with a 23-foot pole with a net on the end.  Understandably, the mother was enraged, causing the employees to call the police, who tranquilized her.  When the mother bear woke back up, she was crying out for days for her cubs.  The park only had one veterinarian, and she was unable to take care of all three cubs.  She ended up transferring to a local vet clinic and the bear cubs got euthanized.  At the time, there were 16 American black bears in the pit.  Once and for all, this is unethical and in fact, torture.  To get them out of the hell they are living today, please sign this petition.
