Take back the disqualification and remove the racing ban from Patricia Huffman's personal story of love, peace and generosity!

The Issue

Patricia Huffman, the Peaceful Warrior, as dubbed by her friends, has been an avid champion for PTSD and runs with a purpose. This particular race, The 2014 Marine Corps Historical Half Marathon, Patricia was in the front of the pack running on behalf of Tiffany Eckler Ferguson, a former running mate who is a fallen victim of domestic violence.

Patricia said, "Tiffany was a member of my running group and a beautiful mother of 4 beautiful children. Her ex was very violent, and we finally convinced her to move out. She moved in with her parents. One day her ex came to her parents house with a gun, and as her father tried to protect her, the ex shot/killed both of them. So I'm doing it for a PTSD and domestic violence awareness campaign right now. I'm also involved in honoring all those who have fallen to PTSD, so I write their names on my arms and legs so they are still with me even though they're no longer here on earth."

Patricia has run many races; she's fast, too! She recently ran 48.4 miles (10:42 minute pace) on her treadmill in memory of 22 military suicide victims. On average, 22 members of the military commit suicide each day, most were battling PTSD. Patricia has hiked with military members and participated in as many events as she can find to shed light on PTSD and what it does to people and their families. Those who are inspired by Patricia know her character is pure and her intentions are true.

During the half marathon, Patricia fell to the ground, yet she got up, resisted medical care and continued running with a bloody lip and blood running from her cut knee.  Unfortunately, due to a bad running chip (official timer that each runner wears on one of the shoes), there is no "official" starting time for Patricia. The marathon officials have officially disqualified Patricia's finish time, giving her trophy to another runner and banned her from running future Marine Corps runs for the span of a year!

However, thanks to an outpouring response, Patricia has received numerous photos and even a video that the Marines posted on their Marine Corps Marathon website and Facebook Page. There are numerous photos of Patricia running throughout the race and even at the start line!

Please sign this petition for Patricia so that we can get the marathon officials to review the photos/video and other evidence in order to take the stigma/labels of "Disqualified" and "Banned" from Patricia's personal story of generosity, peace and love! This should never have happened this way!

Thank you and be good to yourself.
