As to everyone wondering on the practicality of this change in legislation, I have looked into cons and have considered them carefully. While we can make their lives easier by aiding them as pets, It's important we have people prepared to take care of them and understand the risk of having them. If people get them before careful research training and getting proper equipment, I fear many raccoons will die either because they will overcrowd humane society's forcing some to be euthanized, or get use to human interaction and struggle too much to survive back in the wild. All that being said here is an article about someone who had researched, was trained and had the proper equipment for aiding a raccoon with her own personal house.
