Help London homeless people with dogs

Help London homeless people with dogs
The Issue
There are approximately 7500 people sleeping on the streets of London every year (as reported by Streets of London homelessness charity, Crisis et al). Homelessness is at an all time high and can happen to absolutely anyone. Many homeless people have dogs who spend many nights out on the streets with their owners. The dogs are well loved but are not able to receive enough food, fresh drinking water, veterinary care and to have a nice, warm, cosy place to sleep for the night.
This petition (if successful) will launch a charity that can provide hostel accommodation for the homeless, food and water for both owner and dogs and temporary accommodation, micro-chipping and veterinary care for the dogs. It costs around £15 for a night in a hostel but most hostels do not accept dogs. So, many with dogs have no choice but to spend the night on the streets. It makes me sad to think that homeless people are being punished in this way just for loving their dogs and not giving up on them.
I walk by so many homeless people with dogs in London and really want to help but I need support and encouragement whether this is a good idea. This is not about judging homeless people with dogs. Most of the homeless people I've met take better care of their dogs than they do themselves. I want to create a charity that supports homeless people with dogs in every way possible to give them a better chance in life, some much needed respite or just a bit of faith that there are people out there who care about them and their pets and who wish them health and happiness.
