I know the law has just been changed to 5 years but I don't think it is long enough especially when today Judge Jeremy Gold QC told 'Brighton cat killer' Steven Bouquet he would serve five years for the attacks on the cats, and three months, to be served concurrently for possession of a knife. He also told him that he would serve half his sentence in prison before being released on licence. He said Bouquet's behaviour had been "cruel. It was sustained and it struck at the very heart of family life." 

Why up the sentence if the abuser/killer will only serve half the sentence and released on licence. Animals whether domestic or any animal are not just animals, they are part of our families, the heart and soul of family life. They are also company and help people and also help those who can't or haven't had children. As they are part of our families, the sentences should be tougher just like the sentences humans get that kill other humans....
