Dear friends We need your help! Our voices have been ignored by the UK Minister responsible for homelessness and we need your help to show this isn’t acceptable. Thank you for your support in signing our petition and sharing with your friends and family. Today we need your help to push it even further. Despite the overwhelming support for this petition we have had a very poor response from the Minister who said: “Unfortunately, due to existing diary commitments, I won’t be able to meet the young people behind the petition nor will I be able to take part in the petition.” As young people we are disgusted that the Minister cannot make time in his schedule to meet with us and hear our concerns and ideas. Other ministers, including the Shadow Secretary of State for Wales have been brilliant in giving their time and support, as has our ambassador Michael Sheen, who has this to say about the response from Marcus Jones MP “It is simply not acceptable for a Minister to respond in this way. These incredible young people simply asked for a meeting from the Minister. They weren’t asking for money, they were simply asking to be heard. What message does this send to young people. I will do everything I can to shine a light on this until Ministers show due respect!" We have all experienced homelessness and have spent much of our lives not being listened to. Just as we felt we were getting somewhere with your support, it feels like another door has been slammed in our face. Help us, join us, tell Marcus Jones this isn’t acceptable and give us the chance to present our petition.
