Lauren Yokomizo from Supervisor Knabe's office confirmed that it has been "determined that additional training for staff would be beneficial. Animal Care and Control’s Senior Veterinarian and Deputy Directors are overseeing an immediate retraining of staff regarding the handling of injured animals. In addition, the Department is also investigating the purchase or construction of slings that can be used to more comfortably transport injured animals". The conduct of the employees will be “handled administratively”, as per Veterinary Chief of Staff Dr. Solacito.
Thank you to all those that supported the petition for improved handling of injured animals by LA County shelters.
