No to outdoor pool at Thomas Haney site in Maple Ridge

The proposed site for a new outdoor pool near Thomas Haney is a poor location choice and the wrong project. A year round outdoor pool in our climate does not make sense.
As a community we are in far greater need of a new indoor aquatic facility. The outdoor pool is impractical and does not meet the needs of our growing community. Original cost projections have ballooned from 6 or 7 million dollars to over 11 million. Much better spent towards an indoor centre, not in addition to one.
Little notice or opportunity to voice concerns have been given to resident's most directly affected by the proposed location. This pool location will add traffic to an area of 232 Street that already deals with vehicles traveling at very high speeds and high traffic volumes. Plans to add spectator seating for up to 600 people at the pool but only 76 additional parking stalls will create a street parking nightmare. No additional driveway to the site can be added due to the location site restrictions. As well, I would imagine most can agree the sound of starter guns and air horns through out your weekend, would not be something that would enhance your neighborhood in a positive way.
Please help me in letting our City Council know this is not the project the people of Maple Ridge want or need.
I will continue to update regarding the upcoming vote to stop the city borrowing the money for this project.
Please continue to share.
