The City, earlier known as Gurgaon, has currently been named Gurugram. And the justification mentioned in various newspapers is that the people wanted this change. But from all the information I've gather so far, it is just a vague and a focussed group justification, and not all are happy with the name in the name of the city. Also, the term 'Gurugram' gives a very derogatory sense to the city, also that of backwardness. Gurgaon, on the other hand, sounds a posh in comparison to 'Gurugram' because of the way the city has grown with the name creating a new entity for it. People better relate to the word Gurgaon and take pride in the same, unlike what has been mentioned in the newspapers. Also, this name change will cause a lot many problems for the people living in the city. I request the Haryana Goverment to change the name of the city back to Gurgaon.
