Shannon Wood started this petition to Manistee City Council and

Repo’s Rescues is endeavoring to end retail pet sales, backyard breeding, and puppy, kitten and rabbit mills by working first with Manistee City Council members and then state senators and State House representatives to enact legislation banning retail pet sales in the areas surrounding the rescue.

This would make it illegal for pet stores to sell animals bought from puppy mills or backyard breeders as well as taking away the incentive to over breed animals by making it illegal to sell the animals that they’ve bred. The hope is to shift the focus onto adoption of animals who need a safe home as opposed to individuals and corporations profiting from the over breeding and the sale of those over bred animals.

As we are sure that many of you have seen from our social media posts, irresponsible breeding leads to animals developing diseases and infections from poor living conditions, poor diet and lack of proper exercise. It also forces female animals to be over bred, often to the point of paralyzation, disease, or death.

In order to accomplish this, we need people in the Manistee County area to sign our petition and make your voices heard by supporting bans on retail pet sales in your area!

Thank you in advance for speaking up for the voiceless! As always we are committed to leaving no animals behind!
