Cristobal Vivar started this petition to Manhattan Community Board 12 Traffic & Transportation Committee

In honor of our neighbor Maria Lall we request the co-naming of Isham Alley in Inwood, New York. Maria was a Spaniard immigrant who dedicated over a decade to beautifying our community green spaces. She spearheaded the efforts of numerous volunteers in transforming abandoned areas into beautiful, always blooming green spaces.

Maria passed away recently after her fight with cancer. We want to memorialize her by co-naming the path in Isham park known as Isham Alley as Maria Lall's way. This was the first space she transformed. Originally the south side was a barren piece of land full of garbage. Her inspiring vision and effort made our neighborhood a more beautiful and healthier place to live. Her prodigious gardening also transformed the north side of Isham Alley as well as a stretch of land that suffered from erosion next to Park Terrace East. Her volunteer work could be appreciated as well in the Inwood Hill Park Peninsula and the Broadway side of Isham Park.

Please note we are aware that as it stands now Isham Alley does not have a street sign. In case this path is not available for co-naming another street in the area must be chosen with feedback from the community.
