Gelson's Conditional Approval - Keep Fighting!!

Thanks to all who showed up at the Planning Commission meeting, we will need your presence at others that will be coming soon. The Planning Commission "Conditional Approval" requires two, minimum 4' wide bike lanes, east & westbound on 8th between Larsson & Sepulveda, and widened 8' sidewalks on the Sepulveda frontage. Those are interesting "Conditional Approval" requirements, that will cause squeezing in on the current site design, and create further parking reductions of at least 8-10 spaces - maybe the Bank will have to go. Also, it was interesting that neither Paragon nor the City truly know what CalTrans will require after Paragon files an "Encroachment Permit", whatever CalTrans finally approves, it should protect them from the "Defective Road Condition" lawsuits like they just had to pay $27.5 million for in Redondo. Please email the City Council and Planning Commission insisting that: 1) A Safe Entry/Exit on the Sepulveda frontage be approved by CalTrans before the Paragon Plans final approval, 2) that an EIR be prepared to address the "Significant Environmental Impact" to the the surrounding neighborhood - we learned at the PC meeting that the City CEQA process admittedly omitted "Neighborhood Impact" from increased traffic flow, an EIR will address this, 3) Parking reductions as is are a bad precedent - more parking reductions should not be allowed after the "Conditional Approval" site redesign.
