Fiat Chrysler Auto India -- Stop Rehashing Punto and Linea Shells. Get New Products
The Issue
FCA India has been just rehashing and rebadging the same old PUNTO/Linea shells and calling it a NEW product for years now. It was a SHAME as a T-Jet owner to see the same old stuff with new paintwork in Auto Expo 2016.
It's high time that FCA India starts bringing in new products instead of just offering same old stuff with tweaks here and there.
(1) Avventura failed because it was a Punto with a tailgate. Ecosport would have failed for sure if it was launched as a FIGO with a tail gate.
(2) Abarth Punto didn't move the needle because it was a PUNTO with a T-Jet engine and heavy stickering work. Why would anyone pay 10 lacs for a car that looks like the 6 lac one?
(3) Linea 125S will also fail just like Linea T-jet because it's a re-badged Linea T-Jet.
(4) What's this Urban cross over. Again a PUNTO rehash?
(5) What;s this PUNTO Pure? A dated model or used dies being used more in India now?
(6) Hope we don't see a 2012 Linea T-Jet in 2017 Auto Expo India with a badge of Linea-PURE.
Also, FCA India needs to listen closely to reviews and fix the problems instead of keep pushing the same old thing unattended. It ain't going to work. Look at what customers are looking for and not what decision makers in A/C cabin think that customers should be getting. What has been done to fix the issues of rubbery gear shifts, long clutch travel, weird seating position, no bottle holders during last three years?
Why would any reviewer give a positive review when FCA ignores all comments in a disdainful manner. Has anyone at FCA India ever thought of this?
However, if FCA thinks that operating with mindset of 1970's - an era of Ambassador Vs Premier -- is going to work, then even the most die hard fans of FCA Products will move away.as they are now disillusioned and FED UP with FCA India's definition of New products.
Don't be surprised even if BRAND JEEP fails in case you keep rehashing 1 SHELL for 7 years.
So, unless you have decided to wind up Brand FIAT from India, just scrap the linea dies, get Aegea, get 500X, Get Cherokee (not Grand Cherokee) in very quick succession on war footing else the clock is already ticking towards an imminent wipe off from market. And NO CBU route unless you have plans to sell only 50 a year.
Oh please don't get Grand Sienna as a Linea replacement. It won't even sell 1/month. Don't make India your dump-yard for used dies. Buyers here are more educated now.
