Advocate for Smoke Free Cars in Wisconsin

The Issue

Children under the age of 18 who are passengers in vehicles with smokers are exposed to very high levels of secondhand smoke. We need to take action to reduce this exposure in vehicles.  Everyone should be encouraged to not smoke in vehicles.  Eight states, Puerto Rico, and other countries around the world have passed Smoke Free Car laws.  If the law does not completely eliminate secondhand smoke exposure in cars, we recommend to educate the public about the health hazards of smoke-filled vehicles. Any campaigns for smokefree car laws can serve as a tool to educate the public about secondhand smoke exposure and improve decision making about smoking in ways that harm other people.
