When we took my son James out of Life without Barriers after he was injured by the worker there and strong hit to his forehead as the doctor described that caused swelling that has left a mark there to this day. The worker said she never saw the swollen head he came home with. She must be blind I said to the manager. They quickly moved her to another part of their organisation. Then at Nado again my son was hurt by the worker with multiple punches to his arm while in their day program. Oh dear it's a mystery said the nado manager "no it's not a murder mystery" I said someone knows something! The both providers covered it up. I sent photos of James’s bruises to the accounts office when they wanted payment. I said what about paying for this. The CEO didnt like it. They dont care. So I thought I would make them care. It's criminal that they could vent their tempers on my nonverbal gentle son,who wouldn't hurt anyone. Really it was assault in both cases that is why they covered it up.
I realized support workers at these places could not be trusted as uneducated in disabilities and in it for the money and both women were mothers and seemed 'caring' just an act - I never suspected they would do such a thing. Without camers it could not be proven both providers covering up and denying everything they broke my trust in providers forever. Providers must be made more accountable and even the Ndis quality commission does not act to punish or close providers down when they should be punished. If vulnerable young people and children are harmed Providers should be penalized as a matter of course. Much like childcare where horrendous things have recently been exposed happening against children and because workers know no one is watching and little kids won't be believed...we need the cameras in both places of care and property trained workers. At present the support workers and 'educators' get away with harming our precious vulnerable children. Providers should be made accountable and the workers caught out with cctv at the least.
All the best
