Mandate Veterinary Professionals at All Dog Training and Boarding Facilities

The Issue

I am writing this petition from a place of deep personal pain. My 4-month-old puppy tragically lost her life while under the care of a dog training facility. She was rushed to an emergency veterinary hospital with a fever of 106 degrees and severe pneumonia, only to die three hours later due to heart failure. This heartbreaking incident could have been prevented if there had been a registered vet technician or health professional on site.

Oceanside, CA is home to numerous training and boarding facilities that are trusted by pet owners like myself. However, there is currently no requirement for these facilities to have veterinary professionals on site - a fact that can lead to devastating consequences as in my case.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), early detection and treatment are crucial in managing many common canine diseases such as pneumonia. A vet professional present at the facility would be able to identify symptoms early on, potentially saving lives.

We must ensure that all pets entrusted into the care of these facilities receive immediate medical attention when needed. Therefore, we call upon our local government in Oceanside, CA, USA, to mandate all dog training and boarding facilities within its jurisdiction maintain at least one registered vet technician or health professional on site during operating hours.

Please join me in making sure no other pet owner has to experience what I did - sign this petition today!
