I've witnessed, first-hand, the disappointment on the faces of kids who cannot fully participate in sports due to the lack of provided transportation in the Murrieta School District. Challenged by travel constraints, not every student is allowed the opportunity to immerse themselves in sports nor benefit from everything athletic programs have to offer.

In more affluent districts, buses are usually provided for all student athletes, ensuring equal opportunities to participate regardless of their family's financial status or access to private transportation. Statistics show that participation in sports during high school significantly contributes to the overall development of a student; including improved academic performance and mental health (source: The Aspen Institute).

School sports help kids build lifelong skills like teamwork, resilience, and discipline. Considering the beneficial impact of sports programs, it is only is fair that transportation is provided to all student athletes, regardless of their personal circumstances. This is not just about sports. This is a matter of equity in access to extracurricular activities that contribute to the wholesome growth of our young generation.

Our district has a responsibility to ensure participation in sports is accessible to all students. We are calling upon the Murrieta School District to require transportation for all student athletes to and from games. Please stand with us in supporting our students by signing this petition today.
