I'm a proud South African and a supporter of the creativity our citizens bring to platforms like TikTok. South Africa, being one of the greatest contributors to TikTok, continues to shape the global digital landscape with its unique and diverse content. Yet, our creators who work tirelessly, pouring their heart and soul into their content, are being overlooked by TikTok's financial support structure.

Statistics point to the huge impact that South African creators have on TikTok. It's been reported that TikTok has more than 6 million users in South Africa (Hootsuite, 2021). This shows our considerable presence and influence on the platform. Despite our vast contributions, TikTok has yet to extend a creators' fund to South Africans, a form of compensation they've already established in several other countries such as the United States and United Kingdom.

It's time to end this disparity. Let's remind TikTok that in the 21st century, creativity has no borders and deserves to be rewarded without prejudices. With this petition, we're calling on TikTok to introduce a creators' fund dedicated specifically to South African creators to duly reward their influence and hard work.
