Mandate the Provision of Caroline's Carts in Every Supermarket for Individuals with Disabilities

The Issue

My son is 8 years old and has severe autism. Going grocery shopping is a constant challenge because not every store provides special carts for people with disabilities, such as Caroline's Carts. These specially designed shopping carts make it possible for individuals like my son to participate in everyday activities safely and comfortably.

In the United States alone, approximately 61 million adults live with a disability (CDC, 2020). This significant portion of our population faces numerous barriers when performing simple tasks like grocery shopping. The lack of appropriate facilities, such as Caroline's Carts in supermarkets, exacerbates these challenges.

Caroline's Carts are designed to accommodate older children and adults with special needs - making them an essential tool for families like mine across the country. However, their availability remains limited.

By implementing a law that mandates every supermarket and shopping center to have at least five Caroline’s carts available at all times, we can ensure that people living with disabilities have equal access to public spaces and services. It would be a small step towards creating an inclusive society where everyone can participate fully in daily life activities without unnecessary hardship or discrimination.

Please sign this petition urging lawmakers to mandate the provision of Caroline’s carts in all supermarkets and shopping centers nationwide. Your support could make everyday tasks easier for millions of Americans living with disabilities.
