As parents of The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, we invest a significant amount of our resources into our children's education. We believe that the benefits derived from language programs and sports activities are invaluable to their overall development. Our children have been thriving in the German language program and various sports activities offered by their school. However, recent developments suggest potential changes that could disrupt these programs.

The German language program has not only provided our children with linguistic skills but also exposed them to a rich cultural heritage. According to studies, learning a second language at an early age can enhance cognitive abilities and improve academic performance (American Councils for International Education). The removal or alteration of this program would deprive our children of these benefits.

Similarly, participation in sports activities has proven beneficial for physical health and social skills development among students (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Proposing changes without parental input undermines our role as primary stakeholders in our children's education.

We urge the relevant authorities to:

1. mandate the continuation of the German language program as it currently stands.
2. Additionally, we request that any proposed changes to sports programs should involve parental input and approval (vote system). This will ensure that decisions made align with what is best for our kids' educational journey while respecting us as contributors towards these institutions through tuition fees.
3. We also request transparency in tuition adjustments, sibling discounts and parental input with discussion forums and vote for approval of tuition adjustment proposals.
